Car Hire Web Sites

There are now three main types of Car Hire web site, those of the car hire companies themselves such as Hertz, Avis and Budget, those which compare the offers of the main suppliers, such as Carrentals.co.uk and other 'portal' sites which offer bookings with a range of car hire companies such as Holiday Autos. These portal sites often offer cheaper rates and tend to be very good value, but there is a trade off to consider as it is not always clear until after you have booked which company will actually be supplying the car. For example you may book car hire from an airport but the company who supplies it through Holiday Autos may be located off airport and require a transfer to their office and site instead of the normal airport arrangement with desks in the terminal - if time is critical this may be an important consideration.
