Skiing in ZERMATT
Below are some personal opinions on skiing in Zermatt. These are based on experiences over several years. However, change is inevitable and personal preferences and opinions vary, so no responsibility can be accepted.Map of Runs
Includes Cervinia/Valtournenche. Click on overview map for more details with lists of all pistes and lifts with names.Webcams
Loads of webcams giving great views of the village, the Matterhorn and various spots around the pistes.Ski Areas - an overview
The skiing is divided into 3 main areas. - for more more detail on each area click on the area heading:Sunnegga / Rothorn
The north-easternmost area of the Zermatt ski region, Rothorn-Sunnegga has more runs below the tree line than other areas and features a sunny "plateau" between Blauherd and Sunnegga, the legendary restaurants and picturesque chalets of Findeln and superb all round views and long descents from the summit at Rothorn itself. more....Gornergrat
The Gornergrat area has varied skiing, from gentle blues on its high sunny plateau with stunning views to the legendary Triftji bumps and long off piste descents from Hohtalli and Stockhorn. There are also beginners slopes and a toboggan run above Riffelberg. more....Matterhorn - Schwarzsee
The highest runs in Europe, amazing views, more than 2 vertical kilometres of descent without needing a lift, long wide glacier runs, some entertaining moguls and a "gravity park" with half pipe - this area has it all. more....Cervinia - Valtournenche (Italy)
On the south side of the Matterhorn, you need an "international" ski pass to head over the border into Italy for wide open south facing motorway skiing and some long runs into the valley. more....Ski Rental
There are several excellent rental outlets. The prices are pretty similar so its usually a question of convenience and personal preference as to which one you choose. We love Julen Sport in the middle of the village where the service and equipment from Martin and his team are first class. If your accomodation is away from the lifts. particularly in the Winkelmatten area of the village another good option is to hire from Dorsaz Sport by the Matterhorn Express lift station where you can leave your skis and boots at the end of the day.About Us | Site Map | Privacy Policy | Cookies | Contact Us | Terms & Conditions | Links
